Making Safety Personal:
A Letter from President Kevin Miller
As we wrap-up National Safety Month, I want to personally introduce the theme for the final week: What I Live For.
Our initiative of personalizing safety fits in with this theme as it is a great example and a good way to express what we are working for, what is important to us, and a reminder of why we work safe every single day.
We hope you take time this week to write or post pictures on the “What I Live For” banners at each work location.
What I live for…. having fun with my family and friends!
One of the things I do to make sure I’m around to enjoy those good times with family and friends is to set my phone to “Do Not Disturb”* mode so that I don’t get texts, calls, and emails while I’m driving. I’ve been doing this for about three months now and to be perfectly honest, I don’t think I’ve ever felt safer driving my car or company vehicle!
What motivates you to make sure you make it home safely every day? The safety of our people is not only about today, but tomorrow and the future. Safety is not about statistics or rates, it is about our people and the impact an injury can have on their lives. If you make it safe, you make it personal and you will make it home. Make your commitment to safety a personal choice, to work safe for yourself, your family and your loved ones. Coming home healthy to our families and friends each and every day is our goal.
Learn what your team is living for and help them make it personal.
