Vectren Scholarship Program

Who is eligible?
Applicants must be a dependent child of an active employee of a wholly owned subsidiary of Vectren. Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time course of study at an accredited two or four-year college, university, graduate school, or vocational-technical school. 

 

How are scholarship award recipients selected?
The criteria used to award the scholarships include:

  • Academic performance
  • Outside interests and activities, including work experience and leadership roles
  • Applicant's statement of education and career aspirations and goals
  • Personal accomplishments
  • An outside appraisal of the student by a high school or college counselor or instructor
  • Financial need as calculated by Scholarship Management Services (for need-based awards)

 

What awards will be given?
Ten scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded annually. Eight scholarships of $2,500 will be based on merit only. At least two awards will be need-based awards. The scholarship money may be used for tuition, fees, and books. Scholarships are not renewable. Applicants may receive an award only once.  

 

When can my child apply?

Curtis Allen Scholarship

Who is eligible?

Each applicant must be either the dependent of an employee, or an employee of, a DCA-member company, and should be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited trade, technical or vocational school for the upcoming academic year.

 

How are scholarship award recipients selected?

Selection criteria include:

  • An essay
  • Financial need
  • Citizenship achievements 

 

What awards will be given?
A total of $2,500 annually will be awarded to eligible dependents of Association Members or their employees.

 

When can my child apply?

DCA Scholarship

Who is eligible?
Applicants must be a dependent of a DCA-member company, and be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college, university or trade school for the academic year. Students from all academic levels - including incoming freshmen, undergraduates and graduate students - who represent a variety of majors and career goals are encouraged to apply.

 

How are scholarship award recipients selected?
Selection criteria include:

  • An essay
  • Financial need
  • Academic achievements
  • ACT or SAT scores 
  • Community service involvement 

 Final selections will be made by a scholarship committee that will determine the amount awarded to each recipient.

 

What awards will be given?
A total of $15,000 annually will be awarded to eligible dependents of Association Members and their employees.

 

When can my child apply?
Applications typically become available late fall and are due mid-January.

Don W. Miller Scholarship

Who is eligible?
This scholarship is available to children of Miller Pipeline employees.

How are scholarship award recipients selected?
Selection criteria include:

  • An essay
  • A recommendation letter
  • Academic achievement 
  • Extra-curricular activities 

 

What awards will be given?
Award amounts typically range from $500.00 - $1,000 per academic year.   

When can my child apply?
Applications are typically available in January and due at the end of March. Click here to download the 2012 application. This application is for first-time applicants only. Returning candidates should receive a renewal application by mail. Applications must be submitted to Human Resources by April 1, 2012.
